Springtime Thoughts

Winter is ending. It’s been a long one (it seems). The first day of spring is today, which officially starts at 7:21 p.m. this evening.

My crocuses are in bloom and scattered throughout my yard. (The rain washed the seeds into my yard, but that’s okay.) I am enjoying the surprises of the little gifts from nature. Soon they will disappear and other signs of spring will appear, such as tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and (my favorite) lilacs.

Spring is a new beginning. It’s a time when we clean out the cupboards, dust the floors, and wash the windows after months of staying inside with windows closed. It’s a time when birds are back from their southern vacations and nature comes alive like a slow moving ballet.

Springtime, it’s a time for rebirth, fresh strawberry pie and shortcake. Green onions, sugar snap peas, radishes, and asparagus from the garden.

Oh, yes, I am indeed ready for spring.
